Raiding in the nearest future

Hello everyone!

As progression is the most important thing for us (and well, we kinda slacked lately), we want to introduce some official changes to our raids (live from next reset period).

Until we clear the whole ICC on hard mode we focus on what is missing, that is Putri, Sindi and LK HM. That means the first raid of the reset period will always be focused on clearing the way to the boss we want to kill. It still will be done on hard mode UNLESS we struggle for too long and waste time (due to anything: bad mood, worse than ususal dps or slacking healers for example). For that raid we will invite everyone that can attend (as it is now), people with worse gear too, so that they can practice and steal some epics :)

NOTE: After we've cleared the path to the boss we want to kill on the next run, the raid will move to other wings and…. get even more epicz!

On the second run (and third if we happen to plan 3 of these) we will be more picky. We will invite the best raiders, that are the ones doing the highest damage, HPS and with the most EHP. IF it happens that there are too many of these imba players available, we will be choosing them based on the group balance or other factors needed for a particular encounter.

Also, we don't intend to extend raids before we reach LK hard mode.

Happy raiding! :)

  • “most EHP” … so because I gem differently, as in going for the socketbonuses in stead of just slacking stamina into everything, I'm going to be passed for all the second runs?

  • Hmm, can't say I'm too fond of the rule for the second run either…
If needed I can spam heal just to get the most HPS, won't make me a better healer though.

    What's next, selection based on gear-score? :)

As for the first part, I'd suggest swapping out a few under geared alts if we struggle, but still try to do all bosses on heroic. For most of us the only upgrades will drop on heroic mode, and I assume we're clearing the first bosses over and over to get those upgrades in order to make the progression easier.
If the goal is to gear-up alts, then I suggest we create a separate alt run (maybe once every two weekrs).

  • This news is here to explain why some people won't make it to a second run, despite being in a first run. And also why some better geared people won't make it into first run. First run will be more liberal because we have guildies who still need lots of gear from early bosses. Bosses will be killed on HM, but there is a chance we will fallback to a normal mode if we are struggling too much.

  • Frosty, if you need help / advice about proper geming and enchanting, just ask :)

Rhae, we never had “fair” invites system, in our rules it is said that some council (so epic jebuses) will select people that in our opinion will make run most successful for the guild. We never will focus on gearing alts (that's why we left previous guild ;))

So nothing is changing technically, we just want to precise plans for the future and explain our motivation.

  • Ok, I might have responded a bit too fast there. My point is that people shouldn't be passed or put in purely on gemchoices, the amount they can spamheal or the overall (including AoE trash !) dps they can pull.

Bring the people to the run that know their tactics, know how to play their class, always come prepared and on time. And if needed bring a class that provides some extra buffs or cleanse posibilities.

Dropping people out because their EHP or HPS isn't top doesn't feel right. Neither does dropping people that aren't always in the top 3 of DMG done. While the ranged might be good on one boss, the melee might be better on a different one, still you won't find them on top of the meters at the end of a run.

As Rhae said as well, the first part should imo be done in heroic mode, as that is where the upgrades are for people. Getting those heroic mode epics will bring us even closer to the harder kills. Doing them on normal mode because of undergeared alts (or something else) feels like a waste, as the gear will either go to that undergeared alt (who won't join for the progression runs) or be DE'd.

  • Frosty, I hope my post above answers your concerns? :)

Maybe I didn't make myself clear, or you read more into my comment than I intended, but my point was that these kind of selection criteria are better not put into rules.

I think that selecting “the best tool for the job” is certainly the way to go. Specifying which criteria will be used in the rule is however unneeded and probably in most cases just wrong :) (wrong as performance is hard to measure, and promoting behaviour to get on top of some list will usually not result in best performance)

Just stating that “we select the team that will make the chance of killing the boss the highest” should be rule enough.

Edit: I do believe we have a “fair” invite system, as inviting those that put progression “at risk” (because of low gear or something else) would not be fair to the nine others that participate in the raid :)

Only wanted to add, that there's no such thing as “gem choices” on Putri, Sindi or LK HC. Not for tanks. DPS and healers can balance their stats, but not tanks. I've linked some time ago TankSpot topic on our forums that explains everything. There's only one good choice of gems and enchants and all others are suboptimal. That's how it works in WotLK (and especially in ICC) unfortunately ;)

Now I get you, I agree that statement “that are the ones doing the highest damage, HPS and with the most EHP” may be unfortunate. We will never measure dps / hps / ehp before inviting. After raiding a while with you all we know who is doing best dps, who knows tactics, who is performing well during raids, and who has good enough gear for progression fights. But this post isn't going into rules section, it is just clarification of our plans.
    Thanks for pointing this out.
